History of Hope LBC

A small group of people meet in October, 1969 to see if there was interest in starting an evangelical church in the community of Barnesville.

Enough interest was shown so in January of 1970 the group decided to organize a home mission church of the Lutheran Brethren Synod, called “Barnesville Lutheran Brethren Church”.

They met in the city hall until October of 1971 when the newly built church was dedicated at the present location.

In the mid 1980’s the church needed more space and built a new sanctuary which was first used on April 15, 1990.

In January of 2006 the church voted to change it’s name to Hope Lutheran Brethren Church
